The City of Chicago moves to the A17.1 2016 & A17.3 2016 elevator codes as of 10/1/18. This is a big move for The City of Chicago which had historically been slow to adopt new elevator codes. A17.1 is for new elevators and modernized elevators. A17.3 is for existing elevators. There were minimal alterations to the code and almost adopted in its entirety.
